    Professional Development

The technology portion of the professional development for faculty will be managed by the District's technology coordinator. For most topics, he will provide face-to-face workshops, one-on-one training sessions, user guides on the district Intranet, self-paced interactive training on the district Intranet, and/or a facilitated discussion on the professional forums section of the district's groupware application. Topics change monthly for this type of training. Specific applications may, however, at the discretion of the technology coordinator be outsourced in workshop format on an "as-needed" basis to the local Intermediate Unit or to the vendor of a particular software application.

The learning software for the district is already in place, with faculty (to whom the software pertains) already trained. The district technology coordinator will provide professional development as needed to newly hired staff as per the induction plan.

Curriculum development training and the development of the project-based learning units will be managed and conducted for faculty by the district's Director of Curriculum and Guidance, with the assistance of the technology coordinator and the Intermediate Unit. This professional development almost always occurs by subject area during the summer.

    Monitoring/Evaluation

The technology coordinator will monitor the progress of professional development offerings by ensuring that each month of the school year has at least one new professional development offering. In addition, to monitor staff technology competencies, the technology coordinator will survey the faculty on their technology competencies using Zoomerang or an equivalent web-based survey tool annually to track progress. Finally, the curriculum coordinator will examine each newly-revised planned course to ensure that it has at least one technology-enhanced project-based unit before submission to the Board of Education for approval.

The Director of Curriculum will monitor progress with respect to curriculum development annually by reviewing the curriculum in the icTracker tool and ensuring that at least one subject area completes its curriculum development each summer such that the Board of Education adopts the revised curriculum.
