    5. 5. 1. If you had been the Great Cheif, would you have pulled up the Great Tree? Explain your answer.- If I was the Cheif i would have puled up the tree becasue it was part of the culture that if someone had a powerful dream it must come true.
    6. 6. 2. Explain what happned to the wife of the cheif when the young men uprooted the Great Tree. Why did this actiopn generate concern among the animals?- When the yougn men uprooted the tree a huge hole was formed in the ground, when the wife leaned over the hole she fell into it. - Whentha nimals saw her falling into the hole and falling towards them they became worried about her becasue they didn't want her to beinjured.
    7. 7. 3. Describe the action of the swans, the beaver, and the duck. How do these actions exhibit the best aspects of humans?- The swan, beaver and the duck all tride to bring up the earth for the women because she couldn't live on the water like they could. This exhibits the best aspects of humans because in times of need and despare people come together to help one-another.
    8. 8. 4. Whom do they Onondaga credit with bringing Earth into existence? From this myth, what can you conclude about the realshonship between the Onondaga and their natural enviornment? Explain your answer.- The Onondaga credit the animals for the existence of the Earth. The Onondagas' are very close to their natural enviornment because to them they believe that without it they would not have the Earth.
    9. 9. 5. Muskrat makes a risky and desperate swim. How does society benefit from the brave actions like this?- When the muskrat makes this swim to bring up the Earth and when he does earth was formed fromt he seeds in the wives hands and now society has the Earth to live on.

    Characteristics

      The Onondaga believed in and practiced hospitality and did not believe in fighting or wars. The women of the Onondaga were very powerful and were in charge of their families, they were also in charge of dividing labor. the men would usually hunt and fish while the women would pick nuts and berries. the children would also help their mothers.     

                   

                   

                   

    Plot Line

     The Onondaga tribe settled in New York in 1654.They were french speaking and were origionally from Canada. They called themselves "People of the Hills" because their longhouses were built on large hills. 

                  

                  

                  

    Research

      Fourteen of the first fifty chiefs in Iroquois history were Onondaga. The Onondaga belonged to the Iroquois Confederacy. The Iroquois Confederacy consisted of six tribes, the six tribes were Onondaga, Seneca, Tuscarora, Cayuga, Oneida, and Mohawk.
