    Summary

Dekanawidah told his story about how he created peace by creating the Iroquois Constitution.  He said that he planted the Tree of Great Peace, which represented the Confederacy of the Five Nations.  The Great White Roots of the tree represented peace and strength.  Anyone could join the Five Nations if they agreed to follow the rules.  An eagle was placed on top of the tree to protect the people.  When the confederate lords want to hold a council meeting they must open it by showing their gratitude to their cousin lords and offer thanks to the earth.  All lords of the Five Nations' Confederacy had to be honest and follow the constitution of Great Peace and exercise justice.
